We have been developing digital typefaces for complex writing systems since 1985. Putting together types for these scripts involves a fine balance between design and engineering. Design to ensure that the contours bring out the beautiful elements of each letter and engineering to ensure that they fall together perfectly well following the rules of the respective orthographies. We have provided fonts for all of the languages in the Indic and Indo-Chinese families, designed for user interfaces on screens, e-books and materials for print publishing. Our fonts have been integrated into the mainstream desktop and mobile operating systems of the world.
Our type development efforts start with the creation of outlines, inspired by in-house design ideas or specific requirements from customers. For custom developments, we work with the customers to ensure that the design, spacing, kerning and other metrics are acceptable and within specs. We then add the layout tables by using time-tested templates and shaping rules we have developed internally over the years.
We help our customers in three main areas:
- License our fonts for inclusion into their platforms and devices.
- Design custom fonts based on given specifications.
- Add OpenType layout tables to existing fonts designed by others.
Contact us if you have specific requirements for type-design or the need to license our fonts.
